1. We expect all volunteers who run this charity and community-based retreat to be treated with love and respect. This is not a luxury holiday where one is pampered but a peaceful spiritual retreat where we all happily learn and do activities together.
2. The two buildings are segregated between men and women, respectively, and the rooms are shared with the same gender. The only exception is that a male child under nine years old can stay with the mother. This is to ensure a respectful and comfortable environment for all participants.
3. Bathrooms are en-suite and sometimes communal. Despite us designating bathrooms for the non-ensuite rooms (someone has to stay in them), we encourage sisters to share access to help other sisters in the women's only building (Bracken Lodge)
4. We aim to heal ourselves through each other so that we return with a renewed sense of purpose. So please help one another and be considerate. A spiritual retreat is not for the consumerist, the entitled, or the uncultured. Often, one's soul wants to grow while one's body yearns for a tourist site. This is Soulscape! From this experience, we want to be better Muslims and Muslim families.
5. Please listen to the Suhba Reps' Instructions to ensure everyone's safety. Refrain from approaching the teachers about matters that pertain to the Suhba team.
6. Entitled behaviour is against the spirit of the trip and harms the benefit sought by everyone on this trip. A spiritual retreat is a retreat away from Dunya and technology excessive screen time, so we suggest not bringing the whole Dunya to the retreat.
7. We apologise for the bluntness. There is always one family that wants to ruin it for a hundred attendees. There will be no refunds, as cancelling will harm the funds raised for grassroots community outreach work we do throughout the year at the closely separated lodges.
May we all make sacrifices for one another, heal through giving and sharing and return renewed!
